Smart Locks
Keyless entry for every door in the house — deadbolts for the front door, handles and knobs for interior rooms. Fingerprint, keypad, app or physical key. Free shipping on every order.
Deadbolt or handle? Start here.
This is the choice that matters most, and it's the one people get wrong.
Deadbolt — what most US exterior doors use. A separate lock above the handle, thrown by a thumbturn inside. If you're securing a front, back or side door, you almost certainly need this.
Handle or knob set — replaces the handle itself. Right for interior doors: office, bedroom, storage, home gym. Not enough on its own for an exterior door.
Before you order — check your door
Smart locks are returned more often than anything else we sell, and it's nearly always a fitment problem rather than a fault. Two minutes with a tape measure prevents it:
- Backset — distance from the door edge to the centre of the bore hole. US doors use 2⅜" or 2¾".
- Door thickness — standard is 1⅜" to 1¾".
- Bore hole — the round cut-out, usually 2⅛" across.
- Existing prep — if you already have a deadbolt, a deadbolt replacement drops straight in with no drilling.
Not sure? Email hello@buyhomeautomation.com or call (860) 254-1799 with a photo of your door edge and we'll tell you what fits — before you buy, not after.
A note on batteries and keys
Every lock here runs on batteries and warns you well before they die. Models with a physical key override are the safest choice if you're nervous about lockouts — we've flagged which ones include one on each product page.
